The best hair transformations aren’t always the most extreme. Look to Selena Gomez, for example. When the multi-hyphenate made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! the other night, we knew something was different, but we couldn’t quite put our finger on it. Turns out, the star debuted her summer-ready hair with subtle touches that prove sometimes, less is more.
On June 26, Gomez was one of the special guests on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, joining her Only Murders In The Building co-star Martin Short, who is currently filling in for Kimmel. On the show, Gomez chatted about her celebrity crush (Paul Rudd, understandably), did Short’s makeup using Rare Beauty products, and arrived with a fresh new summer haircut: She opted for longer extensions and a rich chocolate brown color.

Gomez styled her new long hair in a chic side part that illuminated the new cut’s long layers that added lots of volume and dimension. The 31-year-old got her cut and color done at Nine Zero One (a celebrity-approved salon in Los Angeles) by co-owners Nikki Lee and Riawna Capri. “A rich shiny gloss and long locks for Selena this summer,” shared Lee. “I chose Wella Color Touch to create a rich brunette and give Selena’s hair life after all the filming she did these past few months.”
Capri took Gomez’s hair from shoulder-length to chest-skimming with Great Lengths extensions. “After we added in the extensions, I gave her a textured long layered haircut with curtain bangs. This haircut is very versatile for Selena when styling. We love this look on her!” shared Capri. For those who want to re-create the look ahead of summer, Lee shares that she recommends styling in a bouncy blowout or spraying on In Common’s Magic Myst and air-drying for beachy vibes

Along with her fresh new cut, Gomez wore a soft-glam makeup look, with a glowy complexion, fluttery lashes, and glossy lipstick. She was styled in a black Versace dress that she paired with black sling-back kitten heels.
