In my humble opinion, few things are as refreshing as an iced coffee on a hot summer day; based on Summer Fridays’ latest release, it seems the skincare brand agrees. Earlier this month, Summer Fridays relaunched the Iced Coffee shade of its wildly popular Lip Butter Balm after initially offering it as a limited edition product last fall.
The Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm has a staggering 50 million posts on TikTok, with countless videos gushing about the Iced Coffee shade specifically. “I feel like my lips look like a glazed donut,” said one TikTok user after applying the glossy tinted balm, while another noted that it “adds a subtle juiciness.” Glowing shopper reviews on the Summer Fridays website echo the praise. “This Lip Butter Balm is seriously worth the hype,” wrote one happy customer. “I waited so long to get my hands on one, and now I don’t think I’ll ever go without.”
When the Iced Coffee Lip Butter Balm launched for a limited time last year, it was only available as part of a holiday gift set. However, it was so popular that Summer Fridays decided to bring it back for good—and I couldn’t wait to try it out this time around.

After testing the Iced Coffee Lip Butter Balm for a few weeks, I can confidently say that this lip balm has earned a permanent spot in my makeup bag. In fact, I’m contemplating stocking up on a few extras in case the coveted shade sells out and racks up a lengthy waitlist. (The high-quality conditioning formula of these lip balms is so well established that the full shade range of the product once had a 6000-plus person waitlist on Sephora, according to the brand.)
The first thing I noticed about this lippie was the warm, rich scent that hit my nose before I even brought it to my lips. The alluringly sweet fragrance immediately reminded me of my go-to coffee order—an iced latte with a hint of caramel. Upon application, my first impression was how the contoured applicator glided smoothly over my lips, evenly coating them in the formula. True to its name and reputation, this lip balm felt unbelievably buttery. It was not at all sticky, which is one of my biggest lip balm pet peeves.
The Iced Coffee Lip Butter Balm has a sheer brown tint with a glossy finish that’s subtle enough for everyday wear on its own, but also layers well over a lip liner or lipstick. On my lips, it has a rosy nude hue that I adore—I often find myself pairing it with a mauve lip liner to play up that rosy effect, or leaning into a ‘90s-inspired look by starting with a cocoa colored liner.

Of course, the most important measure of a good balm is how well it nourishes the delicate skin on your lips. In terms of lasting hydration, this lip balm gets top marks. It leaves my lips feeling unbelievably soft and pillowy for hours, and I only need to reapply it once or twice a day (although I can’t resist sneaking in a few extra swipes just for the yummy scent). As for the ultimate test? I recently packed my Lip Butter Balm in my carry-on for an eight hour flight from London, and my lips didn’t feel chapped or dry at all despite the fact that flying usually dehydrates my skin.

It’s safe to say that I’m officially a Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm convert, thanks to the newly restocked Iced Coffee shade. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go add the rest of the shade range to my Sephora cart.
