Whenever Kim Kardashian goes blonde, what happens next is a mystery. She could show up to the Met Gala looking like Marilyn Monroe, or in a chainmail dress with a cardigan. She could embrace her darker roots, or rock a pink micro-bob. Or, she could end up with Pamela Anderson-esque bangs, and this time, she’s opting for the latter.
On May 14, her longtime hairstylist, Chris Appleton, posted shots of Kim to Instagram with the caption “Babewatch” which references Anderson’s iconic 1989 TV series. The reality star goes back and forth between blonde and her natural dark hair and debuted her latest platinum style just days before this year’s Met Gala. This is the first time she’s tried blonde bangs, and she left her roots dark to peek through the platinum color.

So far, we’ve only seen a glimpse of Kim’s bangs from Appleton, but we’ve got a feeling that an Instagram dump is coming. In the photos the hairstylist shared, Kim has her hair up in a classic Pamela Anderson updo with her fringe-y bangs covering the tops of her eyebrows. She’s wearing an off-the-shoulder top with thin straps. Yes, her bangs are the main event, but we can’t stop thinking about her unreal glow. Is it sunscreen? Body lotion? Body oil? Someone, please let us know.

Kim’s glam also felt like an ode to the ’90’s star—she wore a grey-toned smoky eye, courtesy of her SKKN Classic Mattes Eyeshadow Palette ($50) with Lunar Lite individual lashes from Rokeal Beauty ($13). She opted for a tan lip liner, Rokeal Beauty’s Lip Shader in Alignment ($19) to be exact, and topped it with a glossy lip using their Angelic Honey Lip Oil ($24). Last but not least was her bronzed peachy cheeks. Rokael of Rokael Beauty was credited for her glam, and shared that this look was for her Hulu confessionals.
Fringe-y bangs made our list of hairstyles to watch this summer, leading us to wonder if Kim K is a secret Byrdie reader. Celebrity hairstylist Dana Boyer previously told Byrdie that we’ll start to see the curtain bang trend soften “to almost give the appearance of a straight across fringe, but still with movement and texture.”
By now, Kim must believe blondes have more fun, but the bangs remain unexplained. Maybe it's a nod to a future Skim's campaign with Anderson? Or just an ode to the great blondes of the world, which we know Kim loves. Regardless, we're here for Kim's bang era.
